For many years now, I have gone barefoot. It is not something you can do everywhere, but it something you can incorporate into parts of your life.
Just being at home, with a carpeted surface – that’s an obvious start.
At work, if you are in an office, you can slip your shoes off. Don’t try walking around if the boss is in, but you can give your feet some breathing space.
My feet have always been quite wide, and ever since starting junior school, shoes have been a chore to come by. They either pinched at the sides, or ended up looking like clown’s shoes.
Sandals have been the gift from god. No more smelly socks, adjustable straps, just a glorious all leather solution.
College campuses are quite tolerant of the bohemian person. Great place to bare foot it.
Watch out for chewing gum. That stuff sticks, and stinks.
Cuts aren’t as common as you might think. Most problems come through wearing down of the sole (leading to light weeping) and dry cracks that appear in winter. Things toughen up in a short 3 months.
I’ve actualy run bareboot, and marathons have been won by barefooters (Abebe Bikila, 1960 and 1964 Olympics).

Feet! What a great category! I am always barefoot at the office…when I can get away with it anyway. Nothing like bare feet at the office.

Right on! I went barefoot every summer during my childhood and then all through university. I think I may even have been known to some as the barefoot chick. K

Yes! Every chance I get at work, I remove those ‘pesty’ shoes!

I may walk about barefoot at home, especially in warm weather but I wouldn’t dream of going into the street without shoes, not in London and probably not in any other town. I am too aware of what’s out there, what I’m treading on. Not to mention the nasty little things that people leave lying around that you might not notice, especially when you’re in a crowd or running for the bus.
Tigger wears (men’s) sandals in summer but I generally wear the same shoes all the time. It saves the awkward question “What shall I wear today?” And socks. I usually wear girls’ socks because they are more colourful than men’s socks.

I had a lot of dry cracks wearing sandals during my last summer trip. It was painful especially I had to hike a lot until I learned to apply lotion ot my feet.

My favorite barefoot experience, cool long grass under a shady tree. or is that my favorite grass experience? Either way, I am always barefoot at home and I even shop in barefeet, hot asphalt is a downer tho.

it’s really comfortable being barefoot… except if you are out for a walk that not very nice…. but at home or office that really comfort… I always remove my shoes in my office.. hahaha

I think those Nigerians that win every marathon and can run a million miles without stopping all go barefoot, so there’s that. Plus you’re always ready for a Kung-Fu or karate battle without wasting time removing your shoes.

WOW, I’m so glad to see that there are so many Bare Feet lovers out there. I have been completely BAREFOOT for 28 years now, since I was 16 years old. I’m a musician and I always perform in my bare feet as
well, and BARE FEET have become my “hallmark” of my piano performances. Bare Feet are cool and sexy on anyone and, once your Feet develop the thick tough, Calluses, and ground in Black Dirt as mine have, you can go Barefoot over any stone or gravel surface with ease.
DIRTY BARE FEET RULE!!

i love going barefoot. to the mall, to school, even snuck into some bars in my barefeet. but my friends give me a hard time with it. they all have jokes either pretending to accidentally step on my barefeet, or spill drinks on my feet even nudge me so i step into puddles. i don’t want to stop going barefoot but i feel like i am just a big joke. even my younger brother and his friends are getting into it.

Hi Scott, I’m sure you read my first reply above yours, so you can see how into Barefeet I am. I had a few family members that got down on me
for my Barefeet, but I persisited, even going to all my college classes in my Barefeet as well. The result is that I have the beautiful Barefeet of a male model, while they have bunions and painfull feet. One cousin recently
told me he wished he had been a Barefooter like I am. In the past few months, he has started to walk Barefoot before he goes to bed, and I have encouraged him to always go Barefeet at home, and he already notices the difference, as his Feet are much less in pain. Please feel free to email me at “barefootbob@barefooted.com” to get some encouragement and talk about going barefoot anytime. The local papers in my area have interviewed me more than once because of my constantly Barefeet.

ok thanks

i love being barefoot. i hope to one day live a completely barefoot lifestyle and never imprison my feet in shoes ever again.
if i am not working i am barefoot. the sadest thing is here in the “usa” there exists incredible barefoot bias. it is incredible to believe all of the “nsnsns” signs in the “land of freedom”.
bare feet are healthy feet. let’s do whatever we can to end the prejudice of shodies.
when i was younger barefeet were much more accepted. young people have been influenced by advertisers so they no longer are willing to keep ’em bare.
summer is here kick off those shoes and keep em’ bare.

It is good to see people doing such a natuaral thing as going bare footed. I am a retired person who after two years just finished building my house bare footed, and have yet to get a sliver in my foot. My parent, both scandinavian, brought me up bare footed and all my life I have kept that tradition. Both my children and two grandchildren also beleive in going bare foot. I beleive that bare feet promotes a health body as noted in reflexology books. Bare feet also do not stink nor do they have infections, foot sores or athletes feet that are so comon with shoed feet. Bare feet do not promote fallen arches or miss shaped toes or even blue nails. Bare feet is known to prevent varicose veins. It also hightens the senses and makes you aware of the grounds we walk on. One pleasure I have is walking in the forest barefooted and feeling the moss, grasses and other wonderful textures. So knowing all these positive points for going bare foot, why deny our bodies such pleasures? And then there is the sensual part which is another story.
Cheers…. John

Hmm it looks like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any helpful hints for newbie blog writers? I’d certainly appreciate it.

First of all I want to say great blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.
I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind
prior to writing. I have had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas
out. I truly do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the
first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost simply just trying to
figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints?
Appreciate it!

I’m impressed, I must say. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s equally educative and engaging, and
let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the
head. The issue is an issue that too few people are speaking intelligently about.
I am very happy that I came across this during my search for something concerning this.

I’m interested in making my own music blog and I’m constantly looking through many music blogs throughout the day finding new music first before other people that I know. But how exactly do those blogs find that music first? Can I really start by just posting the music I find on other blogs?.
